Brief Introduction of Wenzhou
Wenzhou literally means a mild and pleasant land. The city gets its name because of its mild climate without extremely cold winters or hot summers. It is an ideal place for vacation. What’s more, Wenzhou is the third city of Zhejiang Province and one of the economic power houses of the region. After thirty years’ development, Wenzhou has created a unique economic model in China for its booming private economy and those world-famous industrial products made in Wenzhou. Although Wenzhou is not on many China tour itineraries and despite being a Chinese cultural hotpot, it is not the most popular city among foreigners(compared with Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo, for example). However, there are plenty of things to do and see should you find yourself with time on your hands in Wenzhou.
Geography of Wenzhou
Wenzhou, located on the southeast coast of China, between the two economic zones of the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas, board Lishui to the west, Taizhou to the north, and looks out to the East China Sea on its eastern coast. Wenzhou is the economic, cultural and communications centre of Zhejiang province. It is situated in a mountainous region and, as a result, has been isolated for most of its history from the rest of the country, making the local culture and language very different from those of neighboring areas.

The area under its jurisdiction, which includes two satellite cities and six counties, had a population of 9,122,100 as of 2010.About 1,915,548 residents lived in Wenzhou's city proper at thd 2000 census and 4,286,100 in the built up area made of Wenzhou city + Ruian and Yuenqing cities (about 5,20 million estimated in 2010).
Climate of Wenzhou
Influenced by the subtropical monsoon climate, Wenzhou has four distinctive seasons yet temperatures remain mild throughout the year. On average, temperatures in January are around 5C-10C (41F-50F) while temperatures in July are usually between 27C and 30C (80F-86F). Although the region is pleasant all year long, as summer approaches, the city enters its rainy season. Tropical storms are most common between July and September. It is advisable to check weather forecasts before you plan your trip.
